Lincoln University College (Malaysia), in collaboration with the Lincoln Institute of Higher Education (LIHE), Sydney, has announced the LUC–LIHE Research Scientist Fellowship, an international initiative designed to attract outstanding researchers and strengthen global research collaboration. The fellowship offers an opportunity for accomplished scholars to work alongside leading academics within the Lincoln Cyber-Physical Systems Research Group while contributing to high-impact scientific research and innovation.

First Cohort: January 2025 and April 2025 Candidates

The fellowship is open to candidates who have successfully completed the Lincoln Global Postdoctoral Researcher (LGPR) Programme, possess a PhD in a relevant discipline, demonstrate an excellent publication record, and have a strong commitment to conducting high-impact research. Applications will undergo a rigorous committee evaluation process, with only five fellows selected each year based on academic merit, research excellence, and their potential to contribute to Lincoln University's research ecosystem.

Fellowship of 3500 MYR per month @ 6 Months

Selected fellows will undertake a six-month, full-time research residency at Lincoln University College, Malaysia. During this period, each fellow will receive a monthly fellowship of MYR 3,500 and become eligible for Open Access publication funding ranging from USD 18,000 to USD 36,000 under the LGPR framework.

Fellows will be attached to the Lincoln AI & Multi-domain Software Research Centre and the Lincoln Wireless, Electronics & Smart Sensors Research and Product Development Centre (L-WISE), where they will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams of three to five faculty members to produce high-quality research publications, develop research proposals, and pursue innovation-driven projects.

The fellowship also provides an environment that encourages international collaboration, grant development, mentorship, technology innovation, and participation in conferences and workshops. Research activities will focus on priority areas including Artificial Intelligence & Computing, Pharmacy & Drug Discovery, Cybersecurity, and IoT & Embedded Systems, reflecting Lincoln University's commitment to addressing global scientific and technological challenges.

LUC–LIHE Research Scientist Fellowship - Lincoln Cyber-Physical Systems Research Group

1. Eligibility and Selection

   Submission of an application and fulfillment of the prescribed eligibility criteria do not guarantee selection. All applications shall be evaluated by the Fellowship Selection Committee based on academic merit, research achievements, publication record, alignment with the fellowship objectives, and overall performance during the evaluation process. A maximum of five (5) fellows shall be selected annually.

2. Mandatory Residency

   Selected fellows shall be required to relocate to Lincoln University College (LUC), Malaysia and undertake the fellowship in person for a continuous period of six (6) months.

3. Fellowship Support

   Each selected fellow shall receive a fellowship stipend of MYR 3,500 (Malaysian Ringgit Three Thousand Five Hundred) per month for the approved fellowship duration, subject to compliance with the fellowship requirements and institutional policies.

4. Open Access Publication Support

   Fellows shall be eligible to access Open Access publication funding ranging from USD 18,000 to USD 36,000, in accordance with the provisions of the Lincoln Global Postdoctoral Researcher (LGPR) Programme. The availability and utilization of these funds shall be governed by the prevailing LGPR policies and publication guidelines.

5. Research Centre Assignment

   Fellows shall be primarily based at one or both of the following research centres:

   • Lincoln AI & Multi-domain Software Research Centre; and/or

   • Lincoln Wireless, Electronics & Smart Sensors Research and Product Development Centre (L-WISE).

   The research centre assignment shall be determined by the fellowship committee based on the fellow's research expertise and project requirements.

6. Research Collaboration

   Each fellow shall be associated with a multidisciplinary research team comprising three (3) to five (5) faculty members of Lincoln University College. Fellows are expected to actively collaborate with their assigned faculty members in conducting research, developing research proposals, securing funding opportunities where applicable, and publishing scholarly articles in high-impact international journals.

7. Travel, Visa and Personal Expenses

   Fellows shall be responsible for arranging and bearing the costs associated with international airfare, visa processing, medical insurance, accommodation, local transportation, meals, and all other personal expenses incurred during the fellowship period, unless otherwise expressly approved in writing by Lincoln University College.

8. Compliance with University Policies

   Fellows shall comply with all applicable rules, regulations, research ethics requirements, intellectual property policies, laboratory safety protocols, and administrative procedures of Lincoln University College throughout the fellowship period.

9. Termination of Fellowship
