A Year of Foundation and Forward Momentum

Launched in January 2025, the Lincoln Global Postdoctoral Research & Research Associate Programme (LGPR) was established with a clear and ambitious mandate: to nurture high-calibre researchers across disciplines and geographies, and to create an enabling ecosystem for impactful scholarship.

Today, the programme marks a defining milestone. Fifty-eight scholars from the inaugural cohort have successfully completed their postdoctoral tenure, concluding a chapter distinguished by intellectual rigour, innovation, and global engagement.

Simultaneously, 120 researchers from the current cohort are progressing toward completion, further strengthening the programme’s research footprint and international reach.

This edition of the newsletter reflects on achievements, institutional growth, and the expanding global contributions of the LGPR community.

Digitally Secured and Verifiable Certification

In alignment with international best practices in academic credentialing, LGPR has issued digitally secured and independently verifiable certificates to all completing candidates.

This initiative ensures:

  • Authenticity and global portability of credentials

  • Secure digital validation mechanisms

  • Institutional transparency and integrity

The move reflects LGPR’s commitment to credibility and future-ready academic administration.

Research Publications: Advancing Global Knowledge

The inaugural cohort has demonstrated commendable scholarly productivity, with research appearing in internationally recognised journals of repute.

Publications in Web of Science Journals – 42 Articles

These peer-reviewed contributions span multiple disciplines, reinforcing the programme’s interdisciplinary orientation. Publication in Web of Science-indexed journals reflects adherence to rigorous academic standards and methodological robustness.

Publications in SCOPUS-Indexed Journals – 20 Articles

SCOPUS-indexed publications further underscore the cohort’s engagement with global research networks and diverse scholarly communities. These works address contemporary research questions across scientific, technological, and social domains.

Collectively, these publications not only elevate individual academic trajectories but also consolidate the global standing of the LGPR programme.

Innovation and Intellectual Property

Beyond publication metrics, LGPR places strong emphasis on translational research and innovation.

Fourteen Patents Filed

During their tenure, candidates filed fourteen patents covering novel technologies, methodologies, and applied research outputs.

Patent filing represents:

  • Original intellectual contribution

  • Practical application of research

  • Long-term societal and economic relevance

The programme actively supports scholars in navigating intellectual property frameworks, ensuring that innovation is appropriately protected and strategically positioned.

Early beneficiaries of the Find-a-Funder Programme

Expanding Access: Open Access Publishing Support

Recognising that knowledge must circulate freely to generate impact, LGPR has prioritised open access dissemination.

Funding Support through “Find a Funder” – 8 Candidates

Eight researchers successfully secured funding assistance for open access publication charges, enabling barrier-free global access to their findings.

Open Access Fee Support for SCI Q1 Submissions – 57 Candidates

Fifty-seven candidates received support for articles currently under review in SCI Q1 journals—indicative of high-impact scholarship. While peer review remains ongoing, the volume and quality of submissions reflect sustained research excellence.

Through these efforts, LGPR advances equitable access to knowledge and strengthens the global visibility of its scholars.

The Current Cohort: Sustaining Momentum

As the first cohort transitions into academia, industry, and policy roles, the current group of 120 scholars continues to build upon the programme’s strong foundation.

Their ongoing work promises:

  • Additional high-quality publications

  • Expanded patent portfolios

  • Cross-disciplinary collaborations

  • Emerging partnerships across borders

The research ecosystem fostered within LGPR remains vibrant and forward-looking.

Institutional Support Framework

The achievements of the inaugural cohort are anchored in a structured and supportive institutional framework, including:

  • Access to advanced research facilities and digital infrastructure

  • Mentorship from experienced academic and industry professionals

  • Opportunities for interdisciplinary and international collaboration

  • Financial assistance for research activities and publication charges

  • Structured training in ethics, research communication, and career development

This integrated model ensures that scholars are supported not merely as researchers, but as future leaders in knowledge ecosystems.

Looking Ahead

Completion of the first postdoctoral cycle represents both culmination and commencement.

Many alumni are transitioning into roles within universities, research institutions, industry laboratories, and policy platforms—where their expertise will inform teaching, innovation, and evidence-based decision-making.

LGPR remains committed to:

  • Sustained academic excellence

  • Responsible innovation

  • Global scholarly engagement

  • Building a durable network of researchers across continents

The accomplishments of the first cohort of the Lincoln Global Postdoctoral Research & Research Associate Programme affirm the value of structured mentorship, institutional integrity, and international collaboration. Their publications, patents, and open-access initiatives establish a strong benchmark for future cohorts. As the next group approaches completion, the programme looks forward to expanding its contribution to global science, technology, and scholarship.

LGPR stands not merely as a programme, but as a growing community of scholars committed to advancing knowledge in service of society.
